Early report bad for Baron Davis

According to Boston.com, who you think would have other things to worry about what with the Sox losing to the Rays of all teams, a source says “the Clippers are fearful that newcomer star guard Baron Davis could miss as many as 4-6 weeks due to a sprained ring finger on his left hand that could require surgery.”

I’m not moving Davis on my draft board just yet because an actual concrete evaluation will come later on Monday. But if I was drafting between now and then, he’d drop from his current rank at 11 (in the rotisserie rankings) to at least number 28. After all, it is potentially a whole month of the season he will be missing.

If the rumour is true, Jason Hart would probably start until Davis returns, but that’s a very limited window of value.

Steve Nash also turned his right ankle for the second time in a week last night but that doesn’t worry me too much. Plenty of rest between now and the start of the season will help and the Suns will be plenty careful with him. Still, Nash is getting older and my expectations are slightly down this season.
